Universal Orlando Resort: Looking ahead IN 2026

Aengus, January 7, 2026January 7, 2026

I did the math, so you don’t have to. I collected Weekday and Weekend pricing for all 11 Universal Orlando on site hotels for the entire year.

When looking at the 60,000-foot view, it was easy to identify 3 notable trends:

1: Value Inn & Suites / Prime Value resorts are pretty stable overall and that’s useful as it means you can reliably predict costs for budgeting reasons. Frequently you can find some of the prime value resorts cheaper than the value inn & suites category. I believe Universal’s intention to separate these categories was never about pricing, but rather just a way to differentiate where family suites might be found.

2: Sapphire Falls itself is an outlier. With the addition of Helios Grand resort, Sapphire Falls no longer is the only premiere or signature series resort without unlimited express pass benefits in the two original theme parks. Removing that conception, Sapphire absolute has premiere features and amenities but is typically significantly lower in price than its sibling properties. With the price being so contrasting, I removed it from the category when I was using averages and median pricing as it would skew the results. If you want a signature series experience, this property is well worth a look.

To exaggerate the point, comparing it to Aventura, its Prime Value next door neighbor, you can see it often rivals and on occasion outperforms.

3: While the signature series has much more variance, pricing in May through September is more stable and more often on its lower end on pricing. If you want a premiere experience, that time frame is worth looking at.

A few interesting Data points:

On January 13th, you will find the cheapest room on property to be at dockside for 91 dollars.

On Friday October 9th, Portofino sets the highest on property cost of 963 for the night. Ironically, it’s the Hard Rock that consistently is the highest costing room over the year frequently costing 920 a night, but Portofino has this single anomaly of the highest priced room.

The summer truly has shifted to be an affordable time to visit comparatively to when I was young and visiting. May through September, outside of holidays is very reasonable as long as you are not staying at the Hard Rock Hotel, which rides that top price a lot all summer.

Breaking it down month by month

Now lets focus on month by month, as I think it may help people budget and plan for this year’s Universal vacations.

January

January overall is a pretty good time to visit, outside of Martin Luther King weekend. Value Inn & Suites barely pop past 200 ever in January. Prime Value resorts stay pretty stable all month with Cabana Bay outperforming its southern campus sisters. Signature Series: The first two weeks of January starting at the 4th, and then the last 10 days of the month have some real steal potential. I see averages around $320 for the entire category during these time periods. Sapphire Falls and Helios Grand shining during the period with medians of $213 and $320 respectively. January does tend to have shorter hours and can be a little cold but look at these prices. Seems worth a gamble to me.

February

February has a little volatility with northern states getting a winter break, and this year the actual Mardi Gras date is in that winter break, making it double jeopardy. Avoid Valentines Day, week this year unless you like an average signature series resort cost of $694. A few resorts do stand out with decent median pricing such as, Dockside at $162, Surfside at $168 and Stella Nova staying under $200 with a median of $194. If this is the only time you can go, you might want to keep an eye on Sapphire with a $308 median price for the entire month. In fact, its currently the one signature resort resisting the Valentine increases. You can get a room on February 15th for $199 at the time of this writing.

The Mardi Gras season for Universal starts on Feb 7th and ends on April 4th. That first week of Mardi Gras looks pretty pleasant by the price index if your “FOMO” is starting to kick in and you want to experience it at Universal Orlando. In fact, Aventura is available for as little as $124 and Dockside a mere $107 during that first Mardi Gras week.

March

March at Universal is a bit chaotic during traditional spring breaks. But with chaos comes stability. The pricing structure is pretty flat. It’s not a great price mind you, but much more stable. You can estimate you’re going to pay about $600 a night for a signature hotel, and about 200 a night for the value categories not including the endless summers which roughly are going to cost you about $160 a night. Particularly strong month for deals with Sapphire falls, which has a median price point of $275 despite spring break crowds. Not a lot of traps here in March, and of course Mardi Gras continues throughout the month.

April

Easter is early in April and at the end of the month is when northern schools have their spring break. Otherwise, pricing looks great in those gaps. This also marks the end of Mardi Gras season. It is a particularly good month for the value inn and suites category, seeing quite a few listings of rock bottom pricing, with particularly rock bottom prices for the Value Inn & Suites category resorts.

May

May is a good month for all categories, and short of Memorial Day weekend you can’t really go wrong. Sapphire Falls in particular is outperforming. Its median cost for the month is the same as Aventura at $212 and is beating Cabana Bay outright. The southern campus prime value resorts, Stella Nova and Terra Luna have median costs beating out even the endless summer resorts at $169 and $166. The only downside I am noticing is it’s during the only gap of the year where there are no events.

July

Forgive me for going out of order but June and August are almost identical for a conversation on pricing so want to tackle July first since it’s a differentiator. July has the major holiday, and this year will be a major milestone with America’s 250th anniversary. It’s also the month prior to locals going back to school, so this is the month where you want to pay attention. If you can avoid this month, you should, but I understand a lot of people with children in particular or maybe you’re an employee of a school but anyway, its hot, muggy, rainy, and expensive. The only real bargain all month is the prime value category. All 3 properties are outperforming the entire Value Inn & Suites category, and all 3 properties are under $200 median pricing for the month. If you have to go and don’t want to overpay, that would be the move.

June & August

June and August are very much in alignment with each other. Pricing is very stable and similar for both months. If you have to go in the summer break, here is where the smart money would be. June is slightly less expensive than August, but still similar enough, from a budgeting perspective that it shouldn’t impact your plan.

Median pricing for both months is across the board under $200 for Value Inn & Suites as well as Prime Value resorts. August has one notable difference, in that Sapphire Falls has a median cost of $222 and feels like a crime. August has one other advantage if you can take advantage of it. Halloween Horror Nights, traditionally starts on Labor Day Weekend. With Labor Day being so late this year (September 7th), I have to think it will start earlier, and outside the holiday weekend means some real cash could be saved. If we are right, then August 28th will be the first event night for HHN. August 28th specifically right now, has a few really affordable options. First most being Sapphire Falls that night for $218. Tera Luna and Stella Nova are showing a cost of $166 and $160 respectively. This is not going to last so maybe be thinking about this one sooner than later.

September

If you average the Signature Series resorts prices for September, you can see averages rolling around $400 a night. September 15th feels like a steal for Portofino Bay at $299 a night. While that is a Tuesday and not an HHN night, imagine having 2 days of unlimited express for $299. You could even stay the night then switch to Sapphire Falls the following night for $239, which will be a HHN night. You would have 2 days of express and a place to sleep after your HHN event for an absolute bargain. The Majority of Value resorts from both categories have a median of less than $150 a night, with Dockside stealing the show with a median of $105 a night for that month.

October

My personal favorite month, you will definitely pay more than September, but each and every day makes for a better chance of no rain, and less humidity and especially from the 15th on, you can feel and taste Halloween. You can definitely score a deal again at Sapphire Falls. Its median cost is the same $313 per night as Cabana Bay and Aventura. You can find reasonable deals with the value resorts, but they are spottier now. Ironically the closer to Halloween, the more likely to get those better rates. Again, a personal choice, but if you haven’t experienced actual Halloween at HHN you should consider it. Particularly if you can also close it down, I think closing night is one of the best vacation experiences I have ever had.

November

While HHN has ended or will soon, we are now out of hurricane season, nights are cooler and should be significantly less humidity and rain. The deals are all back. The holiday season started last year on November 21st. With that knowledge, I would expect them to begin next year on Friday, November 20th. This could be a great opportunity to see the holiday offerings they have at Universal Orlando before the price hikes and crowd level changes for the following weekend during Thanksgiving. Royal Pacific can be sniped for several days as low as $395 a night. Sapphire, Aventura, Cabana Bay, Terra Luna, Stella Nova and the Endless summer resorts can often be found this month at their near lowest rates.

December

December is the month that is most like that awkward relationship you used to have. Let’s just say, its complicated. A tale of 2 cities. There is the first 2 weeks, and then there is financial hell. If you are lucky enough to not be tied to school vacations, you could do really well and enjoy some Christmas spirit in Orlando. If you aren’t so lucky, a second mortgage is an option. The first week you could find yourself at the hard rock hotel for as little as $478. The last week it will run you $800 per night. First 2 weeks everything from Sapphire Falls down to the value inn and suites and the prime values are under $200 as a median price, often at their lowest values. Portofino and Royal Pacific have a median of less than $500 during the same period at $473 and $463 respectively and lows of $423 and $368. Great time to visit and have those express passes for 2 of the 3 theme parks. There are lots of extras for the holiday season as well, if you haven’t experienced them before, maybe you should be thinking about it.

In the end, the best time to visit the Universal Orlando Resort is “whenever you can”, but I hope you find this information useful if you are planning a Universal Orlando vacation in 2026.
